Pianist Lucy Lee's Teaching Philosophy
When I was a child, I remember I have loved singing and listening to music and playing the piano; from church music, jazz and blues, and especially the classical music from Beethoven and Chopin to Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. It has been a good source of
my strength and something that always brings such happiness to my heart. Since I first started playing the piano at the age of 5, it's been my dream to become a famous pianist and a professional piano instructor. I am realizing how playing the piano brings so much
happiness and joy into my life, it has become my dream to share this happiness in my performing and teaching with all my students. Therefore, I opened my piano studio and started teaching children and adults.
The one thing about me is that I’ll always be happy to teach and love to share the joy of playing the piano with my students. I love to inspire students to become passionate about learning music and help them to enjoy the music that they perform. I recognize that every student is different ; some students want to learn classical music and play in competitions
or festivals while other students just want to play the piano for fun and enjoyment.
Because everyone has their own needs and desires, I love to work towards each individual student and help them achieve their goals and dreams in music. My lesson procedure is tailored to students’ needs and skills. I break down complex concepts to manageable steps so that students can learn with ease.
It makes me so happy to know how passionate and active my students are in learning piano. I can say my students are well trained classically. The music lessons are a blend of piano performance, technique, theory, ear -training, sight -reading, duet, chamber music, church music, sight -singing and compositions, etc. I also prepare my students for a lecture recital to incorporate some additional knowledge about the composers, structures of
music, various styles, characteristic aspects from periods of music, etc. I always try to make the lessons very pleasant, and I work hard to teach them all the skills they need to successfully read music and perform on the piano.
My teaching goal is to help my students to find their strength in music and help them develop and enhance musicality and technique. I want my students to learn to love the music that they create and to feel confident and proud of their achievement.
